Prepare Yourself: The Cost of IVF

To do a fresh cycle one by one, it would cost us around $13,800 each time. This would be the most cost effective solution IF we got pregnant on the first try. With our luck, it will take multiple tries SO we went with the 6 cycle program:

For $20,500 we are allowed three fresh cycles and three frozen. If we don't have any embryos to freeze, we just lose the frozen tries. Unfortunately that $20,500 does not cover medications, freezing, or hospital fees. That means that each cycle, we pay around $5,025 out of pocket:

$2,510.00 in Medication (Gonal-F, Lupron, Low-Dose HGC, Ovidrel, Progesterone in Oil,
       and Dexamethasone)
$1,075.00 for the freezing of his sperm and my embryos
$1,440.00 for Medical Center Costs (anesthesia and such)

If we get pregnant on the first time, we have basically completely screwed ourselves by paying $25,525.00. I hope we get pregnant on our first try, but OUCH! Like I've said before, though: I paid that much for my car and my college education and my unborn child is worth much, much more.
